Dongfeng Wu , Associate Professor, Editor Profiles

Dr. Dongfeng Wu, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, University of Louisville, where she serves as Director of the MS Biostatistics/Decision Science Program. During her PhD dissertation research in statistics at University of California, Santa Barbara, she worked on wavelet regression, to find the appropriate threshold values in the wavelets domain, so that noises can be removed and true signal can be retrieved. As a research associate at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, she started to work on cancer screening, and developed probability models to estimate key parameters in periodic screening exams, such as screening sensitivity, sojourn time in preclinical state, transition probability from the disease-free state to the preclinical state. During her stay at Mississippi State University as an assistant professor, Dr. Wu continued her research in cancer screening, and derived the probability distribution of the lead time for the whole diseased cohort, including screen-detected cases and interval-cases, which were funded by the National Cancer Institute. Research Interest: Cancer screening probability modeling, Bayesian inference, wavelet regression, smoothing spline, statistical decision theory, time series, survival analysis, statistical computing.


Eirini Orovou , Associated Professor, Editor Profiles

Dr. Eirini Orovou graduated in 2000 from the Nursing Department of University of Thessaly, Larissa and in 2007 from the Midwifery Department of the University of West Attica. She obtained a Master's degree in Public Health from the European University of Cyprus and now she is a PhD student in the Department of Midwifery, University of West Attica in Greece. She is also a member of the Midwifery Laboratory of University. She has worked as a Nurse at the IASO General Hospital of Athens and at the HYGEIA Hospital of Athens (ICU) and since 2010 she has a permanent organic position as a Midwife at the General Hospital of Volos. Since 2018 she participates in the Nursing Surgery training program of the General Hospital of Volos with the teaching of the course "Obstetric and Gynecological Perioperative Care" and is specialized in the care of premature newborns. She is also teaching “Midwifery Care” at the University of West Macedonia, in the Midwifery Department. She speaks English and she is a member of International Society of Global Health, European Society of Traumatic Stress Studies and Marce Society as well.
