Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a critical role in cancer progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance. Increasing evidence highlights that cancer is not solely driven by malignant cells but is profoundly influenced by complex interactions between tumor cells and their surrounding microenvironment, including immune cells, stromal components, extracellular matrix, and signaling molecules.

Recent advances in tumor immunology and molecular biology have significantly improved our understanding of immune evasion mechanisms employed by cancer cells. These include immune checkpoint activation, suppression of anti-tumor immune responses, metabolic reprogramming, and the establishment of an immunosuppressive microenvironment. Such mechanisms contribute to tumor progression and limit the efficacy of conventional therapies as well as emerging immunotherapies.

In parallel, the integration of high-throughput technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, and single-cell analysis has enabled deeper insights into TME heterogeneity and its dynamic evolution during disease progression and treatment. Artificial intelligence (AI) and computational modeling are further enhancing our ability to predict tumor behavior, identify therapeutic targets, and design personalized treatment strategies.

Despite these advancements, significant challenges remain in overcoming immune resistance and improving treatment responses, particularly in metastatic and treatment-refractory cancers. Understanding the interplay between tumor cells and the immune microenvironment is essential for the development of novel therapeutic interventions and combination strategies.

This Special Issue aims to bring together original research and comprehensive reviews focusing on the role of the tumor microenvironment and immune evasion in cancer progression, metastasis, and treatment resistance. We welcome contributions that explore molecular mechanisms, biomarker discovery, translational approaches, and innovative therapeutic strategies targeting the tumor microenvironment.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s online submission system by registering and logging in. Once registered, authors can proceed with the submission process. Submissions will be accepted until the specified deadline.

All manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening will undergo a rigorous single-blind peer-review process. Accepted papers will be published online promptly and included within the Special Issue.

We invite original research articles, review articles, and short communications. Authors planning submissions may send a tentative title and a short abstract (approximately 250 words) to the Editorial Office for preliminary evaluation.

Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere (except conference proceedings). Authors should follow the Instructions for Authors to ensure proper formatting and compliance with journal standards.

As an open-access journal, an Article Processing Charge (APC) may apply upon acceptance. Authors are encouraged to ensure high-quality English; professional editing services may be used if needed.
