Abstract

Motor neuron disease is a group of neurological disorders that affects speaking, walking, breathing, swallowing and general body movements. It is progressive in nature and eventually and inevitably results in death

Introduction:

Motor neuron disease is a group of neurological disorders that affects speaking, walking, breathing, swallowing and general body movements. It is progressive in nature and eventually and inevitably results in death.

Methods:

Stem cells provide an inexhaustible source of neurons and glia for therapies aimed at cell replacement or neuroprotection in disorders affecting the brain and spinal cord

Embryonic stem cells and stem cells from the fetal or adult cell or other neurological tissues are suitable for this project.

Results:

Stem cells are injected into the pons and differentiate into glial and neuron cells producing neuroprotective molecules.

This procedure is curative in the 5 subtypes of motor neuron disease.

These include:

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Primary lateral sclerosis

Progressive muscular atrophy

Motor neuron disease

And People with motor neuron disease!
